Working with other people in nature is a wonderful experience. Since 2011 I have been coordinating Site_Specific Land Art Events with Strijdom van der Merwe, Heather Greig, friends and team members. We host a biannual international event in Plettenberg Bay, and have created several other smaller nature art events in parts of South Africa.

Making art in Nature is a collaboration with natural elements in a given time and place. Mostly I am only a witness to the art that already exists in nature. Human beings are creations of nature, and as such, I carry the narrative of my time within me. Sometimes making art is an attempt to bring that narrative back to its origins, to offer it, to evaluate it, and to allow it to be reabsorbed. It is a great joy and privilege to work in nature, and although I am heartened when other people notice and enjoy the work, it is not always created for human beings.
