I carved an old tree trunk for a friend who helped me.

It had a seedling growing in where the trunk forked so I carved a hand around it without disturbing it.Douglas Retzler

I have been working in public and community arts for over 30 years with environmental, greening and community-building focus. Much of my work involves play and community involvement to foster public awareness and promote stewardship of our environment and neighborhood practices. My main present day projects are: Grow Art / Grow Community –arts and activities that celebrate and promote the grow world and community urban gardening & Nature Art in the Park- Baltimore – a yearly Spring thru Fall outdoor exhibition of nature-based art, workshops and activities that promote nature awareness , nature involved arts and appreciation and involvement in park resources.
