Jane Ingram Allen, originally from the USA and now living in Taiwan is an environmental artist and hand papermaker who is also an independent curator and arts writer. Jane came to Taiwan in 2004 with a research grant as a Fulbright Scholar artist in residence. After her Fulbright grant project was completed, in 2006 Jane initiated an annual environmental art exhibition, Guandu International Outdoor Sculpture Festival at Guandu Nature Park in Taipei, Taiwan. In 2010 Jane initiated international environmental art projects at Cheng Long Wetlands in Yunlin County, Taiwan, and at Ping Ling Farm in Taipei County, Taiwan. Jane writes regularly for art magazines such as SCULPTURE, PUBLIC ART REVIEW and other publications. Her book MADE IN TAIWAN – AN AMERICAN PAPERMAKING ARTIST’S JOURNEY AROUND TAIWAN was published in English and Chinese in December 2005. Jane is a former university art professor and experienced workshop leader and museum educator. Jane has received awards to do artist in residency projects in the USA, the Philippines, Japan, Nepal, Brazil, China, Taiwan and Bali, Indonesia, among others. In 2009 Jane was an artist in residence at the Rome Art and Community Center, Rome, NY, and at the Queens Botanical Garden, New York City. In 2010, Jane was an artist in residence at Teaneck Creek Conservancy, Teaneck, NJ, to create an environmental art installation that forms a gateway to the nature park. In July 2011 she created an environmental art project entitled “Boston Don’t Dump” as an artist in residence with a Puffin Foundation Grant at Distillery Gallery, Boston, MA.
