곰팡이가 핀 각기 다른 풀잎으로 나의 손을 가린 ‘Palm Grass' 시리이즈 작업을 동영상으로 보여준다.

A video work titled 'Palm Grass' shows different moldy leaves covering my hands as  a series work.

The leaves lose color and darken whenever I fold the leaves one by one. 

This is the process of urbanization or civilization through change of color, green to gray. 

Expanding the gray and reducing the green, patterns form as a symbol of antagonism 

and harmony between nature and man.

풀잎이 하나씩 접힐 때 마다 사진속의 잎들은 색을 잃어가면서 어두워진다.

이는 도시화 혹은 문명화되어가는 과정을 녹색에서 회색의 변화로 표현한 것이다. 

회색과 녹색의 확장과 축소를 통하여 자연과 인간 영역의 대립과 조화를 상징하는 패턴으로 나타난다.

 

*While I am staying in Taipei I learnt about an interesting plant named  'Typhoon Grass 颱風草'
 Which fold their leaves themselves if typhoon would come. I titled my solo show as 'The Sign of Typhoon'

since   my work has a similar shape to 'Typhoon Grass 颱風草'.

 

 

 

 

Leaf & Stair, Drawing on paper and Cutting, 2014

 

 

I collected all kinds of leaves in this village and traced (moved) their shapes using carbon paper, then cut them out and folded them into stair-like forms. Leaves and stair shapes symbolize opposing ideas of nature and civilization.

마을에서 수집한 풀잎들의 형태를 먹지를 이용해 종이에 옮기고 그 형태를 따라 칼로 자르고 다시 계단 형태로 접는다. 

문명의 상징으로서의 계단형과 자연의 상징으로서의 나뭇잎 모양이 하나의 틀 속에 존재한다.
